Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Text messages are stored on our servers and are not end-to-end encrypted by default; voice and video chats are not recorded. You can download a copy of your data from the privacy section in Settings.

How do I delete my account?

On the web, go to User Settings, Account, Danger zone, Delete account; on Android, Settings, Security & Login, Danger Zone. You must hand over any server you own first. Signing in within 14 days cancels the deletion.
